Both lay on the bed, the air conditioning silently keeping the temperature at a certain level. They looked at each other, desperately trying not to think about the previous events that had unfolded over the past few hours. Marie, ever since those times they had together at the school had always tried to encourage her to be more positive.
“Remember those scumbags who were always trying to act the ” big guys” when they saw us together”
Sofia smiled at her friend, “do you remember that occasion when we somehow managed to slip that small camera in the boys toilets , turned out that Leonard and James were both gay and seriously had the idea to show the actions from the 2 of them around the school”.
Marie nodded in agreement, but reminded Sofia that she was the one who persuaded her not to take things any further. But they changed didn’t they, after that episode in the toilet.
“Let’s say”, remarked Marie “I had, a little conversation with them and what capped everything, was when I had an evening out a Jo Jo’s , the gay nightclub on Brooke Street with Matthew, and there they were gyrating to the unbeat music, their dance moves wouldn’t have won them any prizes but talk about being “lost in music ” wouldn’t have done them justice, myself and Matthew found a discreet corner to enjoy the night, it really was a wonderful place to meet up, it was LGBTQ+ before the terminology ever existed”.
“So how did night unfold ?”
“Myself and Matthew were having a cigarette outside, I thought Matthew was totally against smoking, at that first meeting it certainly was “uncomfortable ” but he changed , I must admit I was always suspicious his sexuality, on that night he was eyeing up so many different people”
“So you were saying the about Leonard and James also outside smoking, they had completely changed in their attitude, soon the whole of the nightclub was “piling ” out of the nightclub all frantically trying to to find a lighter a fucking lighter that worked”
“So what happened to the guys, last I heard they had set up their own company in Australia”
“Matthew took it badly when they guys went to Australia , he started smoking a lot more”, Sofia remarked , “I have never quite understood about his sexuality”
Marie smiled , “suppose that’s why I love him so much”.
“Now I can see how angry you were last night , come here my darling, let’s make up for lost time”
