To say that night was uncomfortable, for both of them, but Sofia certainly had some explaining to her long time friend. A night of unrequented passion had certainly been put on hold at least, until this impasse between them could be resolved. Marie awoke around 7.30am. Sofia, by the very fact that her beautiful outfit and leather gloves were still on the sofa, indicated she must be in one of the other bedrooms.
Marie quietly walked passed the bedroom, so as not to wake her long time friend and add further complications to their relationship. She walked into the kitchen, everything spotlessly clean. Marie suddenly remembered how Sofia would always be the one who made sure that everything was “perfect ” before retiring to bed. Marie, with a sense of anger , thought if that bitch thinks she can make things better by just keeping clean she has another thing coming. Marie made a coffee, and opened a pack of Virginia Slims, carefully placing the cigarette into her mouth, and was slightly annoyed she couldn’t remember where her lighter was. She noticed Sofia’s lighter sitting in in her handbag, she clicked the lighter and with slow inhales, filled her lungs with a constant stream of smoke. Marie couldn’t resist touching the handbag , equally the aroma of leather and smoke were the perfect combination. She noticed Sofia’s long leather gloves on the sofa, and equally slowly pulled them on, they were unbelievably soft, made from the finest leather, and also the undeniable aroma of cigarette smoke, she couldn’t resist any longer and stroked her body continuously. How she wished that fucking phone call had never happened the previous evening. She decided to have another cigarette, a More 120 Menthol. She held the cigarette between the gloved fingers, smoking even more continously. She was in such a tranquil state of mind she didn’t even notice her friend standing at the kitchen.
Totally naked Sofia laughed, at finding her alone in the kitchen, wearing her gloves, using her lighter. “So whose been having fun ,whilst Im trying to sleep”. Marie also couldn’t stop smiling “you know if you ever wanted a pair of those gloves or similar I could get easily get you a pair , brand new, never been worn”. “What no aroma of cigarette smoke or anything else”. They both laughed even more. Sofia looked at the kitchen clock. Matthew probably won’t be here for at least a couple of hours, and we both had a good night’s sleep, Marie couldn’t allow the previous night’s annomosity to go unanswered. “Look, just one thing”, replied Sofia, “nothing ever happened with me and Matthew, but he he concided with me several times, he was slightly worried how the relationship was developing, that’s all it was, we must definitely clear up any misunderstanding when Matthew arrives. Do I like Matthew, well yes, he’s the sweetest most generous guy”. Marie smiled, “sweet, yes, generous yes, but guy, well that’s stretching things”.
“Now darling, are you going to take off my leather gloves, and remove that bathrobe”.
“No I’ll keep your leather gloves on”
“No worries I’ve got a similar pair in my case”
“Are they clean”, asked Marie.
“They have a few”
“Stains which I know you will like Just remember as well as Matthew visiting, we have those documents to sort out You know how the ORGANISATION reacts when you don’t keep to their schedules”.
Marie calmly dropped the dressing gown, walking in front of Sofia ,delayed but definitely not forgotten. Does Matthew know or understand what is unfolding in that bedroom, he soon will.
